For the gamer in you: Wolfrog

The first products people think about videogame goodies are usually digital. When Wolfrog started developing Planet-X, we wanted to prepare a crowdfunding campaign on Indegogo. The success of this kind of a campaign is usually linked to offering attractive exclusive bonuses to the backers, early access, customising in game options, collector ’s items, etc. We did all of that. But our competitors did it too. It is a must, but not enough if you want to stand out from the masse.

Planet-X, the brand new, yet unpublished mobile phone game, is set in space, and can be briefly described as playing bowling with planets. Another name for it could have been “Angry Planet”, in reference to the best seller “Angry Birds” game. The game aims at being fun, quick, addictive, and allowing players to feel truly powerful and ambitious.

We started to brainstorm about what collector’s items we can propose to the backers that would be truly unique, matching the theme and ambiance of the game, and offer a long lasting value for our consumers. That’s when we contacted ByVellamo to design together jewelry connected to space, rocky or tectonic ideas.

That is how the 2 series of pendants were born: one using with lava stone (“planet fragment”) and the other meteorite stone (“star seed”). Both made with silver tone clasps in order to keep the highest quality. The are unisex necklaces, so they can be worn by women or men. In addition, we wanted to add a detail to make the jewelry truly collector ’s items, and distinguish it from other similar jewelry. ByVellamo found for us the possibility to laser-engrave small metal tags with the logo of the game, which adds the final touch to the products.

Real meteorite stones are rare and valuable, so it is our top offer in the Indiegogo campaign. Most of the digital products nowadays are quickly consumed, ending up in the  trash rather quickly. But Wolfrog truly believes that good games do not really age. Neither does good jewelry.
It is tough to be visible in the digital world, and I think jewelry has offered us a way to make the difference, in a market light-years away from luxury or fashion design.
